To be honest, I wasn’t able to become an astronaut at the time when I was making my choices for things like university and work. It is a very difficult thing to do and I didn’t want to be an engineer or work in physics so the only chance I had was if they needed a biologist in space! Forensic science is still something I would consider as a job but I really want to do my own research for now. As a PhD student and research scientist you get to make up your own plans of what research you want to do based on what you’re interested in. For me that’s development of embryos and genetics, and I don’t think I could do that if I was a forensic scientist but their work is still useful and interesting 🙂
