We don’t know, because none of the thousands of comets we have found are on a collision course. We know it has probably happened in the past, but it is very rare and I’m not too worried about it.

No-one knows for sure, but at the moment we can’t see any comets heading for us. Although comets have probably hit the Earth in the past, it’s a very, very rare event 🙂

Its very hard to predict when things will hit the Earth. There are scientists who try to monitor all the comets and asteroids so that they can predict when things might hit us, but their work is hard and they can only track the largest objects. They know that none of the really large asteroids will hit us for many hundreds of years, but they can’t track the smaller objects. So objects like the asteroid that hit Earth last year and became the Chelybinsk meteor (read about it here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chelyabinsk_meteor) are impossible to predict at the moment.

Not my area of expertise unfortunately but I would listen to the others on this!
