It was really exciting! We ewe looking at some images of a bid star cluster called Westerlund 1 (you can see a picture here: http://www.ras.org.uk/news-and-press/news-archive/224-news-2013/2347-how-the-largest-star-known-is-tearing-itself-apart) and we could see this cloud of gas near the star. The cloud of gas turned out to be the outer layers of the star that had been thrown off by the star itself as it was reaching the end of its life. We think the star will explode as a supernova relatively soon (or soon in astronomical terms, probably in the next million years).
