Well, first of all I’m not very good at football! But even then, I just think science is more interesting. I get to do science around the world for decades, while footballers only get about ten years at the top of their game.

And if you think about it, there are many more scientists than premiership footballers!

Sure! But I had to be good at football to earn all those money, no?

Lets put it this way, I was not the most athletic of the kids. I used to stand near the opposite team’s goal and chat with the goalkeeper, and try to score only when the ball is near. Of course this can only work if there is no offside 😉

P.S: Girls can play football too, and earn a bit of money 🙂

Well, only the very best footballers earn millions of pounds, and while I am good at football I don’t think I’m as good as Christiano Ronaldo or Gareth Bale. The average footballer in this country doesn’t earn much money, maybe only thousands or tens of thousands of pounds per year, which is about the same as (or perhaps less than) what scientists can earn.

Science can be really fascinating, you get to spend every day learning new things and trying out new ideas and theories. You get to understand how the world around you works and that can be very useful for a lot of jobs. Scientists are the most in-demand people in the world because they know how things work and they can fix problems. There are so many wonderful jobs you could do with a science degree, which are both enjoyable, exciting and well paid!
