I’m not sure! Lots of different looking animals could exist, they just don’t happen to have evolved that way. I don’t think a flying horse would work though, because horses are so big and heavy!

Unicorns could exist, they just never evolved. But we have antelope, and they’re pretty close!

Given the right situation and a lot of time, the chances of any mythical creature evolving is possible. However it would be millions of years, a lot of luck and changes to the environment before we would see anything that we would say was a pegasus, mermaid or centaur. Our DNA mutates randomly and then we keep the random mutations if they help us survive over other species. Once enough mutations have collected we could look completely different! This whole process does take a lot of time though, so I reckon many million years and a reason for us to need a fish tail rather then legs and we technically could become mermaids. The only thing I don’t think we’d be able to evolve would be magical powers which I’m sure lots of mythical creatures are supposed to have!

Almost any animal could exist if it had evolved to exist. In fact many mythical creates are similar to creates that do exist on Earth. For example there are animals that can breathe fire just like dragons!

Many of the fictional/mythical animals are in fact motivated by real ones. Of course it is easy for imagination to go beyond reality 😉
