• Question: people say a sceintist is not fun and is just boring and all you do is work and do exsperiments is that true or is it not like that at all?

      Those people are so mistaken 😉

      Doing science is so much fun, and we get to try out new ideas everyday. Rarely two days are the same work-wise. Of course there are things you have to repeat, but that is true any any job, is not it?

      Well, those people don’t understand what science is about. After school and college, everyone has to work if they want to earn money and buy themselves stuff. So scientists are just like other people!

      But the best thing about science is that it’s interesting. Scientists don’t mind going to work and performing experiments or doing calculations. This is because you’re always learning something or finding out something new.

      Who are these people?! Because all the scientists I know love their work and find it fun!!

      I do lots of experiments and work but I do it because I enjoy it. Like Alan and Deepak say, everyone has to work if they want to earn money and the harder you work the better you can do. But if you love your work it never seems boring, I barely see what I do every day as a job and I have lots of friends who are jealous of all the exciting things we get up to in the lab. I even get to go to America for a week in the summer to meet other scientists!

      Who told you that?! Scientists do have to work of course – everyone has to work to earn money. But in science the work is really interesting and fun! This is because you get to discover new things about the universe, and you also get a lot of freedom to choose what you want to work on.

      Some scientists do experiments a lot of the time, but I think they are much more exciting that the experiments you do at school! This is because real science experiments don’t have a “right answer” – no-one knows what will happen in them!

      Science is great fun, you get to spend your time finding things out and learning about the world around us – what could be more fun than that?
