It could be, there are many uses of science for working with animals, either involving biology or chemistry, or you could study to become a vet and look after animals. Science is useful for so many different things and it also teaches you to be independent and think for yourself – science encourages people to ask questions and to find things out!

Absolutely! Science is not just something abstract you read in your books, it is more about how you apply the concepts to everyday life. How to take care of dogs, what to do when they are ill, all these have been looked at by scientists, and you would want to use their knowledge.

Yes, understanding animals in general and what they need is one part of biology, so that would be a good subject to learn. But probably the most important thing would be to like dogs!

Probably, yes! There is lots of chemistry and biology involved in understanding animals, particularly helping them when they are ill.

A basic understanding of the biology would definitely help, but if you want to work with shelter dogs, kindness and a caring nature will be just as important. Caring for animals is such a great career choice and science will help you really be able to help them 🙂
