When the Higgs boson was discovered at CERN, local news mentioned the contribution of our group at Glasgow, so in that sense, yes. But not individually, at least not yet 🙂

Yes, I’m usually asked to appear on tv or radio news a few times a year. This is normally when there has been discovery about something going around the Sun, or even sometimes its some science that I’ve been involved in.

The last documentary I was on was a programme called Horizon, you can see me in a clip here:

I haven’t ever been on the TV news, but I gave an interview on a radio news show last year about our discovery of the largest star know which was tearing itself apart. And a few years before that I was in The Guardian newspaper with a story about some of my work. It’s exciting when you get to talk to people about your research – hopefully I can work up to being on the TV soon!

Sadly not 🙁 I would love to explain science on TV in the future though!

I’ve not been on the news as of yet but I have only just started my career so who knows what the future will hold… I’d say scientists are all so passionate about what we do that we love to talk about it so I’m sure we all hope to have a go on the TV or radio!
