Question: Have you discovered how long stars live for?

I haven’t done this myself but I work with people who have done this. Most of our knowledge of how long stars live for comes from calculations about how long stars take to burn all of their nuclear fuel. This is because when a star has run out of all its nuclear fuel it can’t support its own weight any more and it begins to collapse. We think our Sun will have a total life of about 10,000 million years, and it’s about halfway through that at the moment.
