I’m not sure! There are several different theories about this. It might be that the universe is endless or it might be that we live in a “closed universe”. In this case, if you kept going far enough in one direction, you would end up back where you started, like on the surface of a sphere! (You would have to go very, very far because the universe is so big!)

Well, I think the Universe is endless, but you have to be careful what you mean. So the Universe is probably infinite, although it can still be different shapes! Astronomers actually think we live in something called an infinite flat Universe, which means that no matter how big you draw a triangle, the angles add up to 180 degrees.

It’s also infinite in space, but not in time. We believe the Universe had a beginning in the big bang, and in fact some scientists have just found some more evidence of this – you can see it on the news this evening.

Hmmmm…. that’s a good question, and now you’ve got me thinking about a never-ending Universe! Its really hard to know if the Universe is endless because we can’t yet see things on the other side of the Universe (the light hasn’t had enough time to travel to us!). So my guess would be that the Universe is probably not endless, but its so big that we could never see the other side!
