We have a mixture of the genes from our mum and our dad. This mixture is unique to you and if you have a brother or sister, theirs will be slightly different too! Because of this, our DNA is actually unique to us and so are our fingerprints. Even identical twins have slightly different fingerprints because not only do our genes cause them to change, but also what we experience as we’re growing in the womb changes slightly. So because twins sit in slightly different parts of the womb, they have slightly different fingerprints too!
